“Replacing Desperation with Education, Inspiration & Innovation”

A typical child in the country of Sierra Leone will experience homelessness, hunger, illiteracy, child labor, child marriages and more. Their dismal destiny continues to dictate their future outcome.

There is a slow democracy taking place after the war that ended in 2002, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of over two million people. Tomorrow’s Future has an educational goal that well exceeds the normal quota of 2.4 years of education per adult by Sierra Leone residents. Females tend to enroll less frequently due to family obligations, which results in less opportunity. Primary schools have a ratio of one teacher for every 66 students. Is it any wonder why the need for good academic teaching is so dire here? Only 35% of adults are literate in Sierra Leone. The average is raised slightly in youth, but females fall ten percent below males when it comes to enrolling in school.

Lack of education breeds many social and economic problems. Most women have over six children, with only a little over a third of those living. Medicine is not available, and hospitals can only house 1 out of every 1,000 people. Physicians are scarce at 10 for every 1,000 people. Life expectancy is short at only 41 years of age.

Sierra Leone is rich in forest and agriculture, but education, poverty, along with food and water deficiencies tend to distract people from living normal lives. Tomorrow’s Future is altering the face of Sierra Leone one student at a time. By meeting the basic needs of the students, we are starting to see a transformation take place that is revolutionizing the country and replacing impossibility with hope.
