About Our Schools And Students

We care for over a thousand students, providing them with food for the soul and the mind. The children of Sierra Leone have the odds stacked against them. Tomorrow’s Future is closing in on the gap of generational illiteracy. Our schools are located in Matotoka, Tane Chiefdom.

Lans Fofana and Awie Turay have carried the torch and the legacy of their grandfather, Alhaji Kanu, who founded the schools.

  • The Elementary School, Alaroun, was established in 1971. It currently has 465 students with 130 seats.

  • The Junior High School is SLMB, established in 2002, and holds 465 students with 140 seats.

  • The Senior High School is SLMB, established in 2009, with 102 students. These students have to attend afternoon classes due to inadequate space limitations.

All of the schools are made of mud and cement and contain no plumbing or electrical service. We are currently making plans to expand the educational opportunities offered from the 9th grade to 12th. This will mean many more displaced children rescued from the streets and the criminal activity of child labor. Firstly, it is the goal of Tomorrow’s Future to rebuild a school large enough to hold classes for all grade levels. Secondly, to refurbish antiquated facilities that no longer are capable of meeting the needs efficiently for our students. The new school will also be equipped with vocational and athletic accommodations.

The children of Sierra Leone are like children anywhere throughout the world. They desire better learning environments, teaching tools and accommodations that will enable and enhance their professional careers.  We provide the children with clothing, books and other educational materials needed. When you contribute to the needs of our schools, you contribute to the future generations of thousands of children. When a child learns to read, they often will teach the rest of their family how to do so, as well.  Tomorrow’s Future is changing the face of illiteracy in Sierra Leone, into educated and responsible students and families.
